National Abortion:

In the United States of America, there are two major National Abortion groups: The National Abortion Federation (NAF) in Washington, DC, and NARAL Pro-Choice America, also located in Washington, DC. Both groups claim to have similar agendas. In our opinion, The National Abortion Federation makes a more professional, rational, substantive presentation of its case—including its well-thought-out Mission Statement—than the emotionally-charged offense of NARAL Pro-Choice America (NO MISSION STATEMENT FOUND). NARAL Pro-Choice America, from the presentation of its website at least, definitely comes across as the less professional of the two organizations. While both have dedicated an inordinate amount of space to begging for money (to the point of being "tacky"), NARAL Pro-Choice America also seems overly enthralled with itself and its president, and has even set-up its website so that you have to double-click to return back from whence you came (VERY "tacky"). It's things like these that turn prople off before you can turn them on.

National Abortion Federation (NAF)

From their website: "The National Abortion Federation (NAF) is the professional association of abortion providers in the United States and Canada. We believe that women should be trusted to make private medical decisions in consultation with their health care providers. NAF currently offers quality training and services to abortion providers and unbiased information and referral services to women.

"The mission of the National Abortion Federation is to ensure safe, legal, and accessible abortion care to promote health and justice for women.

"Our work supports these three fundamental aspects of our mission:

• "Safe - NAF provides our members with the education and professional support they need to provide the highest quality abortion care.
• "Legal - NAF provides the medical, provider, and patient perspectives in debates about abortion policies.
• "Accessible - NAF provides women with the resources they need to make informed decisions about their pregnancies."

NARAL Pro-Choice America

From their website, in a letter from their president, Nancy Keenan: "Our website is the first stop where you and pro-choice Americans from all walks of life can get the information, tools, and inspiration to make a difference.

"If you're like me, you believe in a culture of freedom and responsibility. You believe that women have the intelligence and thoughtfulness to make decisions about their health with their families, their physicians, and their faith. You believe that government and politicians should not interfere in our personal lives — and that people should be empowered to make the right decisions for themselves.

"NARAL Pro-Choice America is committed to advancing our shared values. We are committed to protecting the right to choose and electing candidates who will promote policies to prevent unintended pregnancy. We are going on the offensive, reshaping the terms of the debate, and bridging the false divides that are meant to keep us from progress on reproductive health."
