Abortion Clinics:

Abortion clinics are facilities that specialize in hosting medical abortions. Such clinics may be public or private. Planned Parenthood is the largest operator of abortion clinics in the United States.

The Facility

An abortion clinic is a licensed facility for the termination of pregnancy. This does not include a hospital or a physician's office that is not used primarily for the performance of pregnancy terminations, but in which abortions are performed.

Clinic Services

Abortion Clinics often offer birth control options, pregnancy testing, sonography, counseling, family planning, medical, and surgical services in addition to surgical abortion, medical abortion (RU-486/Mifepristone), and the morning after pill, commonly called Emergency Contraception or "Plan B." Abortion clinics are staffed with physicians, nurses and counselors who are licensed abortion professionals in all types of abortion services, including early first trimester abortions and late second trimester abortions.
